Bit 3's 464 SBus to Multibus I Adaptor supports the interconnection of aSPARC workstation to a Multibus I system.The 464 consists of two printed circuit cards. One card is an SBus cardfor the SPARC workstation and the other is for a Multibus I system. Thetwo cards are connected with a round EMI-shielded cable or optionalfiber-optic cable.Address mapping permits the SPARCstation to directly address Multibus Imemory and I/O as though the workstation were a Multibus I bus masterprocessor. The SPARC workstation can be a coprocessor or the onlyprocessor on the Multibus system. Communication between the two systemsis by random access 16-bit reads and writes.In direct mapping mode, up to 16 MB of Multibus I address space isaccessible from the workstation as SBus memory. Page mapping mode permitsthe SPARC workstation to access 16 MB of Multibus I memory in page sizesfrom 64 KB to 1 MB.
